When preparing for an interview:
- Always research the company and role you are applying for. This gives you a head start as interviewers are likely to ask a question about your knowledge of the business and what they do and most importantly their values. It is important to be prepared to give them a brief overview of what the company does/ what they stand for from your point of view.
- Prepare notes and jot down questions you may have for the employer. This shows them you are keen and interested in the vacancy. Your questions might be regarding the salary, hours/ shifts, benefits, flexibility etc.
- Request and understand the job specification/ description. If this is not accessible from the careers page or job board, email the recruitment team and ask for this information so you can do your research and ensure you are a suitable candidate for the role.
- Practice/ mock interview techniques. Ask someone to help with role playing and go through some questions relating to your skills, personality traits and previous experience. To view some helpful tips on preparing for interviews, visit the Google page here.
