Save money on your broadband? Explore Social Tariffs
Social tariffs are cheaper broadband and phone packages for people claiming Universal Credit, Pension Credit and some other benefits.
Some providers call them ‘essential’ or ‘basic’ broadband. They’re delivered in the same way as normal packages, just at a lower price.
How a social tariff could help: Social Tariffs are available to those on a variety of benefits. If a person or someone in their household claims Universal Credit, they could switch to any of the tariffs available. Social Tariffs are cheaper than a regular package witch current prices range from £10 to £23. Most tariffs offer superfast broadband at speeds over 30 Mbit/s.
If a provider offers a social tariff, it could be possible to switch to a social tariff any time, free of charge. To apply for social tariff, they would need to check with their current provider offers a social tariff and it is possible to apply for most tariffs online, or calling a provider and ask to switch.
