Orwell Housing Association’s development company Orwell Homes, has signed a contract with local construction firm SEH French Construction, for a new development at Cockfield near Lavenham. 

The work marks the second phase of development on the site following the successful completion of 18 affordable homes for local families which welcomed the first tenants this month.  The second phase will provide homes on the open market which will be available early next year, and will consist of 11 properties, including a mixture of some bungalows and houses.

Orwell’s Assistant Director of Development and Growth, Greg Dodds said: ““Orwell Homes has ambitious development plans to grow as a business using the support and expertise in Orwell Housing Association which has developed from over 50 years of building in Suffolk and East Anglia. We pride ourselves on providing attractive and sought after homes working in partnership with local contractors and supporting the local economy.

We are delighted to be able to start works at Cockfield with our partners SEH French Construction and are excited about the opportunities that it will provide. The new development itself will bring about a mixture of high quality and beautifully designed houses and bungalows in a lovely rural setting. The construction will start next month and we anticipate the homes being available early in 2022.”

The work has come about through an innovative joint funding partnership with SEH French Construction, and represents an exciting new chapter for Orwell following the successful recent completion and sales of its scheme at Great Bromley.
