The Regulator of Social Housing is creating a set of four consumer standards and a Code of Practice to go with them.
They are being given new powers to help improve the quality of housing and services for social housing tenants. To help make this happen, the standards set expectations that social housing landlords, including Orwell, have to meet. The Code of Practice gives examples of the sorts of things landlords should think about to make sure they meet the standards.
These standards are building on and replacing five existing consumer standards. The Regulator of Social Housing wants to know what people think about the proposed consumer standards and Code of Practice.
The consultation on the consumer standards is running for 12 weeks, finishing on Tuesday 17 October 2023, and people are invited to have their say via RSH’s website. We anticipate that the final set of standards will apply from April 2024:
- The Safety and Quality Standard
- The Transparency, Influence and Accountability Standard
- The Neighbourhood and Community Standard
- The Tenancy Standard.
